AION 2 Leveling Guide: 1 to 45, Routed
The cap is 45 — and the grind is back-loaded
The global version's level cap is 45, with roughly 755 million total XP from level 1 — and most of that concentrated in levels 40–44. Translation: the first 35 levels are a tutorial-speed breeze, and the real leveling decisions happen at the end. At 45, normal XP gain ends and character progression continues through stigma boards, gear and collection systems instead.
The route: campaign first, always
Ask 'what gives the most XP per hour' and the answer is boring and stable: the campaign (main story) chain. It out-pays everything, unlocks the systems later levels depend on, and routes you through the four main regions in order — Verteron or Altgard by faction, then Eltnen and Morheim.
- Campaign quests — never leave one sitting unfinished; they gate progression.
- Faction quests — start these day one; several endgame unlocks hide behind faction rank.
- Side quests — take the ones along your campaign path, ignore detours.
Bolt the systems onto the route
The fastest levelers don't run extra loops — they stack systems onto the route they're already walking:
- Dungeon entries — daily entry currencies are capped and expire; spending them on dungeon XP while leveling is strictly better than hoarding (the #1 waste in beginner mistakes).
- Hidden cubes — cube clusters sit along the campaign path; sweep regions during the 1–35 stretch (cube guide).
- Daily checklist — from your mid-30s, fold the prioritized daily loop into leveling; it becomes the XP spine at 40+.
The 40–44 stretch
This is where 'fast' becomes 'consistent'. Options that all work, ranked by effort: dungeon resets with a group, faction daily chains, and War Mode-rift questing if you can defend yourself (rift guide). Pick the one you'll actually repeat for several evenings — the grind kills motivation before it kills progress.
Class speed table
Honest leveling-comfort snapshot (details in each build guide):
| Class | Leveling speed | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Sorcerer | Fast | burst deletes quest mobs |
| Gladiator | Fast | cleave + self-sustain |
| Spiritmaster | Comfortable | pet tanks, zero downtime |
| Ranger | Medium | safe but kite-dependent |
| Cleric | Slow, safe | unkillable, low damage |
| Chanter | Medium | steady, group-welcome |
| Templar | Slow-ish | durable, low kill speed |
| Assassin | Hardest | high skill floor while leveling |
Every class reaches 45 — the differences are hours, not weeks. Choose by what you'll enjoy at endgame, not leveling speed alone.
