AION 2 Gladiator Build Guide (Framework)

Gladiator in one paragraph

Gladiator is AION 2's melee bruiser: greatsword polearms, wide cleave, and the lockdown tools that make it a consistent PvP threat — most PvP rankings put Gladiator in the top tier alongside Ranger and Assassin, and it holds a comfortable A-tier in PvE. If you want one character that does everything acceptably, this is a strong pick.

Strengths & costs

Gearing framework

PvP loop

Your identity in PvP is control into cleave: use lockdown skills to pin a target inside your swing arc, then dump AoE. Practice the pull-chain order on dummies until it's muscle memory — Gladiator wins are won by sequence, not reaction speed.

Pair with dailies

Gladiator's cleave makes it arguably the fastest daily-clearing melee — see the Daily Checklist for what to prioritize.

Group PvE: the A-tier honest version

Gladiator is welcome in groups but not worshipped: your job is pack control and steady cleave while the tank holds attention. Play second line — behind the Templar's engage, ahead of the casters — and use your AoE to shape pulls rather than chase damage charts. Groups remember Gladiators who control adds; they forget ones who top meters while the healer dies.

Three gladiator mistakes

  1. Opening with the lockdown chain — those skills are your finisher setup, not your opener; wasting them at full enemy HP means nothing to pin when it matters.
  2. Treating War Mode like a duel — Gladiator thrives in group scrum, not solo honor duels against Rangers.
  3. Skipping the exit plan in rifts — bruiser durability makes players brave; the stay timer doesn't care how tough you are.
